This should be a real Fender Bullet (not a Bullet Strat - note that it has the Tele style headstock) ). These were designed and marketed by John Page to replace the Mustang and Duosonic guitars as student level electrics - they were made in both the USA and in Japan. Since this is a 1982 model it is likely that the parts are USA and it was assembled in Japan since this was during the transition between Fullerton and the Corona plant. The only thing confusing me is that this seems to have a regular Fender Virato bridge/tailpiece which, as far as I was aware, the S-3 (3 pickup) Bullets did not have. But perhaps the MIJ version did.
